Tourism Safety & Standards
STORMS NPC now represents 99% of all businesses in the village, that is approximately 30 brands under one umbrella working together to improve the lives of everyone in our community.
Our Approved Members seal ensures that you can feel safe in a great place.
The Standards
Through our Approved Members initiative we aim to ensure that we collectively meet international standards for accommodation, dining, adventure, and shopping establishments.
A system of sustainable, ethical trade that connects producers, businesses, and consumers to improve livelihoods, communities and the environment.
The Principles
The principles specify the ways that enterprises behave to ensure we collectively put people and the planet first. STORMS NPC monitors all Approved Members to ensure these principles are upheld.
- Create and maintain mutually beneficial long-term relationships between all members of the community, partners, and all enterprises.
- Follow ethical business practices.
- Environmental sustainability.
- Transparency & traceability.
- Fair prices that covers the cost of production, pays workers fairly, with enough profit to reinvest.
- Support & investment in community development projects.
- Create opportunities for local & small scale producers.
- Workplace non-discrimination.
- Gender equity & freedom of association.
- Committed to ensuring good work conditions, following worker protection laws, and having reasonable work hours.
- No child, forced or otherwise exploited labor.
Members Agreement
Approved Members allow authorised representatives of the NPC to inspect the property or properties from which a tourism offering is made. The NPC may refuse an application based on an enhancement or enhancements required to meet the minimum standards. The NPC may at any time withdraw the right to be a member of STORMS NPC.
Members agree to the following:
To uphold the principles set out in the section above.
To support the NPC’s social economic transformation agenda for the Storms River Village area.
To attend a minimum of 75% of NPC meetings.
About the NPC
STORMS NPC was established in 2021 when the residents and business owners recognized the need for all members of our community to work together.
Donate
We receive small monthly donations from the businesses in the village and rely on funding and volunteers.
